The book Units is a practical reference work devoted to systems of measurement and their application in science and engineering. The book explains the purpose and importance of physical units and introduces the principal systems of measurement, with particular emphasis on the metric system and the International System of Units (SI). It describes the fundamental and derived SI units, their definitions, symbols, multiples and submultiples, and their relationships to commonly used electrical, mechanical and thermal quantities. A significant part of the work is devoted to unit conversion, providing methods and conversion charts for moving between metric, British and American units. Particular attention is given to electrical and magnetic units such as the volt, ampere, ohm, watt, coulomb, joule, farad, henry, weber and tesla. The book also introduces the per-unit system of measurement, an important method for expressing quantities in engineering calculations. Overall, Wildi presents units not merely as mathematical conventions but as an essential language for describing, comparing and calculating physical quantities accurately, making the book a useful practical reference for students, engineers and technicians.
