It begins with furnace design and combustion equipment, covering coal firing, pulverized-fuel milling, burners, oil firing and combustion principles. The book then examines steam and water circuits, including heating surfaces, natural and assisted circulation, circulating pumps, steam drums, superheaters, reheaters and economizers. It also discusses ancillary boiler equipment, fittings, cleaning systems, instrumentation and maintenance. A further section deals with dust extraction and draught systems, including fans, electrostatic precipitators, filters, chimneys, flues, ducts and flue-gas treatment.
