A method of seam-weld groove tracking has been investigated using an eddy current transducer as the sensor. a method of controlled oscillation of the sensor across the groove using a stepper motor has been developed, and results obtained concerning the behaviour of the eddy current transducer over the groove. hardware and software used in the system are described and experimental testing has verified the capability of the systeme.
