changes in the concentration and content of substance p-like immunreactivty (spli) in the rat reproductive tract and hypo-thalamus were examined during pregnancy, parturition and admin-istration of oestrogens. spli concentrations in the uterus, cervix and vagina fell during pregnancy and remained low following parturition; this could be explained by hypertrophy of the non-neural components of these tissues, and similar changes could be induced by administration of oestrogen.
