The first part of the research topic involved the extraction , purification and assay of lectins obtained from three varietes (brown, green and red ) of lentil (1ens culinaris ), red kidney bean ( phaseolacca americana ) .the major techniquesemployed were salt preciptations with ammonium sulphate , gel chromatography on dextran gel g-75, and polycrylamide gel electrophoresis.
