A focused ultrasound hyperthermia delivery system is being developed at the university of pennsylvania for treatment of local malignant tumors .an ultrasonic pulse-echo system has been designed andbuilt to operate in conjuction with this system , providing coordinates , relative to a fixed reference , of a smal target immersed in the tumor , the design of this system is described in detail , test results are reported , and suggestions are offered for design improvements and system integration.
