This thesis consists of 4 chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to databases. The introduction shows why database systems are more desirable than file systems and describes in general databases and database management systems. The second one is a review of techniques used to implement a network database at the ministry of heavy industries on HP-250. The third chapter describes the relational database management system DBASE 3 plus. The last chapter is an implementation of the previous database on DBASE 3 plus and a conclusion of the system used and the work realised.
