Wide ranging investigations into the culxination of structural grades of concrete containing pfa are reported. concrete specimens, cured under a large rmixer of different environments prior to test, were exposed in an enrichie cd atmosphere for varying periods up to twenty weeks. the age at wiich these specimens entered the accelerated carbonation environment between 28 days and one year old. in tandem with these tests, similar specimens were exposed to the atmosphere, to provide some control to the accelerated tests. the rate of carbonation of equivalent opc and pfa concretes was founâ not to be equal, and for both concretes varies greatly with both grade, and period and type of curing. the widely used phenolphthalein test for measuring the depth of carbonation was assessed for accuracy and repeatability
