Comprehensive review has been given of published rk relating to the dependence of ZnO characteristics frequency and the numerous equivalent circuits which ve been proposed to describe these characteristics.owever, aIl characteristics of ZnO seem not to be fully cribed by available circuits. HV tests under variable frequency have been per rmed in the prebreakdown and breakdown regions of O surge arrester elements. A crosSover phenomenon between DC and AC chareristics is observed on plots of VII curves, PIV curves R/V curves. Both the equivalent resistance and capacitance of the sample show a nonlinear behaviour against voltage frequency, which complicates the separation of the duction and displacement components of the total ent flowing through the sample.An equivalent circuit is proposed to account for the over phenomenon.
