There is at the present ttme cons1derable interest in the use of LV electricity d1stributing networks as the communicating media for such applications as remote switching of loads. The main objective of this project was to investigate the ropagation of audio frequencies signals over such mains distribUtory networks within a comme,rcial sector. This dissertation could be considered as consisting of four main parts. Chapters one and two give an insight into load management and a brief technical description of some of the techniques used for load management . Chapter three outlines the bas ic theory of s ignal propagation whilst chapter four describes the test network and suggests how the problem should be approached. Chapter five describes comprehensively the method of investigation used and the computer study. Finally the results are presented in chapter six and some general conclusions are cmade in chapter seven. Various articles and publications are referred to..thràughout the dissertation, to enable a deeper ins1ght into. the subject to be obtained.
